Helena Youth Soccer Association

Our Programs

The Helena Youth Soccer Association (HYSA) is the Helena area’s only multi-tiered soccer organization.

We offer three levels of play for children in grades Pre-K - 12 starting with Micro and Recreational, and peaking with Arsenal.

Our programs run in the Fall and Spring.

Our players have advanced to play at very high levels of the game by winning championships, MVPs, and competing at the collegiate level.

More importantly, our players win many awards in the areas of sportsmanship, community service, and academics. While HYSA encourages success on the field, our core value is instilling characteristics that will make for successful contributors to society. Soccer is the tool we choose to teach these principles.

Micro

Micro Soccer, through fun games and age appropriate activities, introduces our youngest players to soccer, to practicing, and to learning what they can do and build their confidence in being part of larger activites.

Arsenal

Arsenal is our most competitive level of program participation. While a lot of fun, it is also a significant time and financial commitment. Players attend tryouts prior to the season and are placed on teams accordingly (U12 teams are split evenly). Teams are led by experienced, United States Youth Soccer licensed coaches and practice a minimum of 2 times per week, typically starting as early as January with indoor practices (or outdoor if weather permits). Teams play most Saturdays from April through mid-June and typically attend at least 2 overnight tournaments (U12 teams typically attend 1 overnight tournament). Players should aspire to increase their technical and tactical abilities and prepare to play at a higher level of competition. New Arsenal players have usually completed at least 2 seasons of Academy or other higher-level soccer.

Arsenal Academy

Ages: U10 & U11 (Fall & Spring)

Academy U11 is where players learn technical skills and develop the foundation of their soccer skills needed as they advance to Arsenal soccer and on to upper level teams.  Depending on numbers players are placed on teams of like ability, preparing to play in league play by U12, these teams can pool players from one team to another depending on level of play of players. Typically there is an A team and a B team and so on.

Academy U10/U9 is where players learn technical skills and develop the foundation of their soccer skills needed as they advance to Arsenal soccer and on to upper level teams.

Players are placed in a pool system that allows for similar like ability players to improve at their pace. Players are divided onto teams that reflects that like ability with other players for tournaments, playing "friendies" with other clubs usually can be teams of combined abilities, unless host club requests teams of similar abilities. There is travel involved for players. While trying to limit long trips it can depend on which clubs are hosting in seasons.
